Either way, I have compiled a list of things that I am looking forward to in the future!
- Video phones – with cell-phones having video capabilities already, why can’t we just talk to each other via video rather than merely sound?
- Cloaking technology – I just saw an article in Popular Mechanics about turning things invisible. Very cool stuff. It’s amazing that we’re that far already.
- Larger virtual storage – Just 10 years ago or so it was unheard of to have 20 megabytes of storage space on your computer. “What are you going to do with all that space?” people would ask. Well, with the way things are going, I’m sure my cell-phone will soon hold 10 petabytes.
- Brain Phones – Cell phones get smaller and thinner every year. Bluetooth allows you to wear your cell phone on your ear. Soon those will get smaller and smaller until all people have to wear is something the size of an earring. From there it will become an invisible (see number 2) ear implant. You’ll be able to dial and answer based on a series of voice commands. Then eventually it’ll just be controlled by thought. (Which brings up a good point: people always say that aliens are telepathic. On the contrary, I think they’ve merely mastered the cell-phone technology)
- Brain Wave Alarm Clocks – There’s nothing worse than your alarm clock going off in the morning. You’re dead tired and you wish you could sleep longer. I want to see an alarm clock that taps into your specific brain waves and literally wakes you up. You suddenly arise at the specified hour, not because you heard some blaring noise, but because your body suddenly feels rested and awake. I’d pay some serious money for something like that.
As always, feel free to leave comments.
P.s. Wanna see some really cool futuristic gadgets that really DO exist? Check this out!

Good stuff, and all quite likely, quite soon :) Here's a run down for you.
1) Video phones do exist in Japan. In-fact most cell phones in the US can handle video, but the American companies don't want to release the technology yet. After all, they know that a slow and steady release of features makes more money than providing all the of the features now.
3) There is actually a theorem in regards to this. It addresses more towards CPU power, but can be applied to storage space as well. It states that every 18 months CPU speeds will double. So, my cell phone right now holds about 60 megs. Do the math, and we'll see 10 petabyes on a cell phone in about 25 years. I'm betting we have those invisible brain implants by then. In fact, I bet they don't even bother putting much storage on cell phones by that point. Your phone will just be networked to your computer that holds 100+ petabytes.
5) They've got 'em. I actually used one for a few years until it broke. There are a few different types. The basic idea is that the alarm starts about 15 minutes before you need to wake up, and starts very quietly, and slowly grows louder until it wakes you up. Some you can even set the tones as to harmonize with your chi/soul/brainwaves/etc. The idea behind these things is that the unconsious will hear the initial tones, but not enough to wake you up, and your mind will calmly lull you out of sleep, until you wake up peacefully, and feeling well rested (no jarring wake-up).
It's great to live in the day of information and technology. I was just thinking how horrible it would be to be a pioneer and have to travel in a covered wagon hundreds of miles with the risks of disease, Indian attacks, running out of food and water, etc. No thank you. We are so spoiled today!
I love the theory that aliens have just "mastered cell phone technolodgy." That makes so much sence! Perhaps in the future we will all get occulear implants at birth that can be updated from a central mainframe as technology progresses.
